2024 & 20 Years More Campaign
For the last two years, CUF has been collecting money for the 2024 & 20 Years More Campaign for future building maintenance needs. The future is now. This year we have replaced one air conditioning unit for $10,000 and anticipate needing to replace the roof within the next year. In preliminary pricing of the roof, we estimate it will cost up to $120,000. Fortunately, we have already collected $48,083 in the 2024 & 20 More Campaign through donations and fundraising with an additional $7244 in outstanding pledges, for a total of $55,505. We have also applied for some of the Fellowship Gift Money to assist with roof costs. To keep a roof over our heads we will also be doing roofraising events and are asking for additional donations to fill the gap.
So how is it going? Thirty CUF members have contributed to the campaign by either donating/pledging or supporting our fundraising activities. We have over 110 members and a number of committed friends and we would like each of you to be able to say that you bought a shingle or two, investing in our future. Keeping a roof over our heads takes us all contributing what we can. If you are able to donate to our roof, we will recognize that you have contributed in a new display of the building’s roof in the Commons. We would ask if possible that you submit your donation by December 1, 2023 to help in our planning for the roof replacement which we expect to happen in the spring of 2024.
There will also be an opportunity to support ROOFraising efforts. About $5,000 of the current total has come from fundraising, both individual efforts and events. This year’s ROOFraising will include an art/craft sale to be held November 5th and 19th. As our covenant says, “every act of service, lovingly performed, matters”.

How do I donate? You can make a check payable to the Carbondale Unitarian Fellowship. Mail your gift to CUF, 105 N. Parrish Lane, Carbondale, IL 62901. You may also donate through PayPal, whether by check or online make sure you indicate your gift is for “2024 & 20 Years More Campaign”. For those over 72, funds may be given from your IRA, without owing taxes on the amount.
