One of the efforts of the Outreach Committee has been to create a new logo for CUF. In 2021 the new logo was designed by Jennifer Tarantino Linsin, Linda Linsin’s daughter in law. It is derived from a CUF stewardship logo she designed a few years ago for us. We are pleased and excited to share the new logo and offer some thoughts and insights about it.

In part, a logo should be a distinctive and easily recognized emblem. The idea is that when it is seen, the audience knows at once who the logo represents. Think Pepsi, the Red Cross, or SIU’s Saluki Dog. CUF’s new logo is such an image. As we use it, it will become familiar and readily recognized in our community so that, without anything else, when people see it, they will know it stands for CUF.

A logo also delivers a message it its design, imagery, and colors. CUF’s new logo expresses a clear and powerful message about who we are. With multi-colored human hands forming a chalice, holding up and reaching for a blue flame—the blue flame being the hottest and most intense part of a fire—all surrounded by a rainbow ring, the message is that CUF is a diverse and welcoming spiritual community, joined together in a shared mission.

The tagline, “Freedom of Thought, Spiritual Growth, and Ethical Living for All—Bring Your Authentic Self” emphasizes and compliments the logo’s message.
