We affirm and pledge:
- To welcome people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual and two spirit into every level of congregational life. All can celebrate their love with dignity and joy.
- To honor the identities of all LGBTQIA2S+ people: lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, agender/asexual, two spirit, and others outside the cis/het norm.
- To strive to understand the unique experiences of all queer people and recognize intersectionality among all oppressed groups
- Inclusion in worship, in programs, and in social occasions—welcoming your whole authentic self.
- Celebrate diversity by using inclusive language and content in worship.
- Incorporate an understanding of the LGBTQIA2S+ experience in all our programs including religious education (RE).
- Celebrate and sustain LGBTQIA2S+ issues and history.
- Affirm marriage equality.
- Advocate and promote justice, equality and freedom in the larger society
- CUF is active in ministry to the LGBTQIA2S+ community throughout Southern Illinois:
- Partners with Rainbow Café and Downstate Illinois Trans Organization in recognizing Trans Day of Remembrance
- Celebrates Welcoming Congregation Days of Observance in Sunday Services including: Trans Day of Visibility, LGBTQ History Month, and Stonewall Remembrance.
- Launched online Trans Spiritual Gatherings
- Participating in the Interfaith Pride Worship Service each year
