March Matin:  A Service of Music, Meditation, and Blessing

Traditionally, a “matin” is a service of song and prayer, and has also been used to refer to the morning song of birds. Our version of a matin is a service of music, reflection, and blessings. Join us for music with some of our CUF musicians and a reflection by Bridget Shepherd.

Widening the Circle

Cindy Buys will speak with us about Carbondale Area Interfaith Refugee Support which is a group that is dedicated to welcoming and supporting refugees in the Southern Illinois area.  We’ll also explore our monthly theme of Widening the Circle through readings and song.

Love

Of course, there is wonderful romantic love, which we usually think of first, but there is also love of children, parents, siblings, friends, pets, etc.!  And there is love of types of experiences, such as painting, traveling, reading, gardening.  And what about love for ideas or ideals, like peace, truth, kindness?  What do we mean when we end our services with “Go in peace with love for justice”? Join CUF folks as we explore the timeless theme of “Love”.

The Spirituality of Drumming

Drumming has been part of rituals in many cultures throughout human history. Drumming has been used to connect people and communicate. We all have rhythms throughout our bodies, our Earth and the universe has rhythms, and we are tied to those rhythms. The use of drumming and rhythm has even been shown to be good for our brains, bodies, and mental health! This service will be interactive, so whether you are in-person at the fellowship or online, come and create rhythm and drum with us! More details to come!
